Originally designed to represent the legend of Saint Patrick and his run in with the Irish King Laoghaine. The king had become angry with Patrick and his Christian followers. When Laoghaine angrily confronted Patrick and his followers, they magically transformed into deer escaping the kings wrath. Hence the deer antler, the snake represents the pagan king and ancient legends of Ireland.
