13 Terrors of Christmas, a collection of pieces inspired by the folklore of the Christmas season.
Inspired by the tales of the Catholic Saint Nicholas, an inspiration to the modern day Santa Claus. Hand embroidered on natural toned linen fabric is the portrait of Saint Nicholas, shown as an old man with eyes closed in contemplation. He faces away from the golden crosier and dead branches representing the wealth and power of the future catholic church. In the direction he is facing is a healthy apple branch represent a healthy harvest before the winter season. Below are three skulls representing the three dead boys brought back to life by the saint. The coins pay homage to the three girls saved from prostitution by Nicholas' gift of coins to them. And finally the ship, as Saint Nicholas is the patron saint of children and fishermen.
Framed in a vintage metal frame measuring approximately 10"x8.5". Frame is both a table top frame and can be wall hung.
