Inspired by the medical and sacred cures of medieval Europe's eras of plague. It was believed that plague was caused by the devil. Perhaps out of desperation one would find themselves ready to beg the devil to be spared. There were many spells and concoctions believed to summon and ultimately allow one to submit to the devil. One such spell involved both milk thistle and the blood of a black chicken. Hand embroidered on charcoal linen fabric. Set in a wooden painted and distressed coffin. Sawtooth hanger in back for hanging.
