A keepsake box for trinkets that remind the most sacred of memories. While the vintage box itself is in the shape of a heart, it invokes the shape of a planchette. And so, the inside embroidery is inspired by the planchette's shape. Hand embroidered on tea stained canvas. A brass metal stamping of a hare fills the central "eye." The branches follow the shape and cradle an antique tin type while a spider, a dream weaver, hangs above it all. Grey pearls and jasper stone.
The vintage wooden box is very scratched and scuffed which adds to the pieces mystery. There is a little heart lock on the latch preventing it from latching, there is no key. The inside of the box was stained with wood stain but it is rather messy and worn. The original lining was red but was replaced by the embroidery and a black felt lined bottom. The antique tin type is also worn, scratched and rusted. Please examine the images closely for condition.
